Melek Bahce, b. 1999, is a filmmaker and visual artist from North Cyprus, currently based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. With a background in directing, writing, and acting, she completed her bachelor's degree in Film Directing and Writing at Warsaw Film School. She further honed her skills by obtaining a master's degree in Lens-based Media from the Piet Zwart Institute.
Melek's diverse art practice reflects deep understanding of human emotions, inviting audiences on immersive journeys through her cinematic creations. She is interested in creating audio-visual experiences that create a unique language with surreal themes and visual motifs.
Her artistic practice recently expanded to a focus on making films that explore ways of telling mythological and metaphysical stories through constructing miniature sets and creating puppet characters. She is interested in investigating anthropological questions through world-building and puppetry animation.
